Partner Visa
Partner visas are designed to allow eligible partners of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to join their loved ones in Australia.
There are two main types of partner visas available: the temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) and the permanent Partner visa (subclass 801). These visas have different eligibility requirements and application processes, but generally, they require proof of a genuine and ongoing relationship, health and character checks, and financial support.
The temporary Partner visa allows the visa holder to live and work in Australia while the permanent Partner visa is being processed. After two years, if the relationship is still genuine and ongoing, the visa holder can apply for a permanent Partner visa.
Partner visas can provide a pathway for couples to reunite and build a life together in Australia, with the opportunity to work, study, and access social services.
